Tablet Connection guide

Using DartsSpace with scoring tablets can enhance your tournament experience and will ease the management of the tournament.

What Tablets Do I Need?

DartsSpace works on every tablet using a web browser. However, for an optimal experience, using the app is highly recommended. The app supports:

• iOS devices with iOS 14 or higher
• Android version 10 or higher

Note: Ideally, your tablets should have newer versions for longer app support.

Concerning hardware, not much is required except for good Wi-Fi connectivity; a 10-inch screen is ideal. Tablets with smaller screens or low resolution may not be able to show shortcuts.

Prepare the Tablet

1. On the tablet device, go to the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and download the DartsSpace app. You can do this by searching for "DartsSpace" or using the links below:
   • Apple App Store
   • Google Play Store
2. Once downloaded, open the app and enable the tablet mode
3. Confirm the tablet mode activation

How to Connect?

The management and QR code scanning happen from a different device, usually your laptop or another tablet device/smartphone.

1. If you have no event yet, create one by navigating to Events & Locations in the sidebar and tapping the "create event" button on the top right.
2. Once you have created the event, you will be presented with the new event in the table. Click on "Actions" and then "Tablet Code"

Important: If you have no boards yet, add these using the "boards" button first!

3. You will be presented with the security code, and if possible, you will be asked to enable camera access.
4. You can either:
   • Enter the code on the scoring tablet
   • Scan the QR code to set up a connection
5. Once scanned, you will be presented with available boards. Tap the board you want to use on the tablet.

Important Information: A tablet is connected to an event or location. You can disconnect and reconnect to different events or locations as needed.

How to Start a Game on a Tablet

• Assign a game or group to a board, just like a regular tournament
• The tablet will automatically pick it up and display the players

Wi-Fi Connection

• Tablets must be connected to the internet at all times
• If the Wi-Fi or connection is lost, the currently loaded game can be completed but will not sync until the connection is resumed

Switching the Game on the Tablet

• For safety reasons, once a game is loaded on the tablet, it will not check with the back-end if the game changes
• To change the game:
  1. Re-assign the board in the DartsSpace platform
  2. On the tablet, tap "refresh" and then "reset"

Caution: Resetting will clear the local cache. If there is an un-synced amount of throws, those will be lost when resetting.

Do I need to log in with my DartsSpace account on the tablets?

No, you will automatically get logged out on the device if you connect as a tablet. This is to protect players from accessing your account.

How to disconnect?

You can disconnect the tablet by tapping the DartsSpace logo on the top left 5 times, then pick "disconnect".

Tips and Tricks for Using the Scoring App

• When you pick the bull winner and need to correct it, press the red correct button
• To enter scores, use the scoring pad
• To remove the last throw, press the red correct button
• To edit the last throw, tap on the number in the throws list (only possible for the last throw by a player)
• While below 170, you can type the remaining score, then tap on the score for automatic calculation
• You can enter a shot by number entry or using the "shot" button
• If a shot has been called, you can undo it by pressing the red back button (not possible if the game is concluded - last leg)
• You can enter bust by pressing the bust button or entering 0 as a score

Did you know?

When players register using their DartsSpace account, or you register on their behalf, they can enable notifications in the app and will get notified once they are called to a board to write or play!
